Children's ministry
We come alongside parents to be witnesses to their children with them, praying the children hear the gospel, see the church living by it, and believe.
Alongside parents, not instead of them
We encourage parents to think about how they can train their children to take part in the different aspects of our gatherings, while also appreciating that it can be good for a parent to listen without distraction. And we think there is great value in other members of the church building relationships with children and teaching them at their own level.
What is offered
- Nursery
- Provided for infants through age two for the whole of both services. A dedicated nursing room with a video feed of the morning service is available.
- Bible Basics
- A Bible study for ages three to six. Children are dismissed during the offertory. The class currently uses the Gospel Project curriculum, which teaches Bible stories in a way that points children to their need for Jesus.
- Foundations for Kids
- Four groups: non-readers (3–5), 1st–3rd grade, 4th–6th and 7th–10th. They learn the Apostles' Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount, and the songs of the church.
Before you drop off
What to bring
A labelled diaper bag with disposable diapers, a change of clothes, and anything else your child might need.
Snacks
To avoid problems with allergies, please don't bring a snack unless you plan to feed your child outside the nursery. The church provides rice chex and water during morning worship.
Health guidelines
We cannot admit children with potentially contagious conditions: a fever over 100°F in the last 24 hours, a runny nose with thick mucus or persistent coughing, undiagnosed rashes, diarrhea or vomiting, impetigo, or pink eye.
Safety
Every nursery worker undergoes a background check, and nobody is permitted to be alone with your child. New parents are welcome to view the nursery; only workers remain inside with the children.
Questions about children's ministry go to administrator@jpbc.org. For a first visit with children, the visitor page covers arriving and parking.
Bring the children with you
Nursery and classes run every Sunday morning. You do not need to tell anyone in advance.
